Veterinary Assistant

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. The role will involve assisting our veterinarian and technicians in a mostly General Practice setting. This is a dynamic position that requires flexibility, compassion, and a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work as a vital team player.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
● Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
● Provide compassionate care and support to patients and their owners
● Maintain cleanliness and organization of hospital and equipment
● Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively
● Participate in the care of hospitalized patients
● Adhereto hospital core values, policies and procedures at all times
● Workcollaboratively with other team members to ensure the highest standard of patient care

Qualifications

● Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital (1 year)
● Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology
● Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively
● Mustbeable to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
● Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
● Flexibility to work weekends, holidays
● Willingness to learn and take direction from veterinarians and senior staff members
● Compassionate nature and genuine love for animals
● Experience with Avimark is a plus
